Championship Karting for Juniors on the Isle of Wight –

Isle of Wight Junior Karting Championship Helps Young Drivers Build Confidence

Looking for an activity on the Isle of Wight that helps children develop confidence, focus and resilience while having an incredible amount of fun?

At Wight Karting, we believe motorsport is about far more than winning races.

Every month, children from the age of 8 come together to learn new skills, challenge themselves and become part of a supportive community of young drivers. Our Junior Championships are designed to help young people improve their driving, build friendships and enjoy healthy competition in a safe, structured environment.

Last Friday we celebrated the exciting conclusion of our 2026 Summer Junior Championship, and what a fantastic evening it was.

Every season we’re amazed by the progress our young drivers make. Their lap times improve, their confidence grows and, most importantly, they learn to respect both their fellow competitors and the sport itself.

Congratulations to our Summer 2026 Champions

🏆 U16 Champion: David Welsh

🏆 U12 Champion: Max Kilby

The racing was incredibly close throughout the finals, with every driver showing impressive skill and determination. More importantly, every young person represented themselves brilliantly both on and off the track.

Celebrating More Than Winning

One of the things we’re most proud of is recognising achievements beyond finishing first.

Every finalist received a Wight Karting Championship T-shirt, while special engraved trophies were presented to:

🏅 Most Improved Driver – Noah Parsons

Awarded for the remarkable progress and confidence shown throughout the championship.

🏅 Great Sportsmanship – Rhys Millband

For showing respect, encouragement and excellent conduct both on and off the circuit.

🏅 Driver of the Day – Jack Kilby

Awarded after an outstanding overtaking move to take victory in Friday’s final.

These awards reflect the values we try to encourage every month—effort, improvement, resilience and respect.

Why Parents Love Junior Karting

Many parents tell us that karting gives their children something they genuinely look forward to every month.

The sport encourages:

  • Building confidence
  • Developing concentration
  • Learning discipline
  • Improving decision-making
  • Respecting rules and fellow competitors
  • Coping with success and disappointment
  • Making new friends

Every child is different, parents often tell us their children enjoy the fast-paced, structured environment and clear goals that karting provides.

How to Join the Junior Championship

Our Junior Championship is open to children aged 8 years and over.

To enter, drivers simply complete our  x5 Junior Track Days , where they learn the skills and confidence needed before joining the championship.

Many families also choose our Driver Club Membership, making regular practice much more affordable while allowing young drivers to continue improving between race meetings.

Building a Community for Young People on the Isle of Wight

Living on an island gives us a wonderful opportunity to create a friendly community where children can develop new skills together.

Our aim isn’t simply to produce faster drivers.

It’s to create a place where young people:

  • gain confidence
  • develop resilience
  • learn respect
  • enjoy healthy competition
  • make lasting friendships
  • discover a hobby they’ll love for years to come.

That’s what makes the Junior Championship so rewarding.

We’d Love Your Child to Join Us

Whether your child dreams of becoming a racing driver or simply wants an exciting new hobby, our Junior Track Days are the perfect place to start.

If you’re looking for one of the most exciting children’s activities on the Isle of Wight, we’d love to welcome your family to Wight Karting.

We’d also like to thank all the parents who continue to share their feedback with us. Your ideas help us improve the championship every season and ensure we’re creating something that benefits as many local young people as possible.

We look forward to welcoming the next generation of Isle of Wight drivers to the track.
