We have a very exciting announcement here at Wight Karting! From September, we will be launching our brand new Wight Karting Race Series
Here at Wight Karting we pride ourselves in providing exhilarating competitive racing opportunities for drivers visiting our track. The brand new Wight Karting Racing Series gives drivers, both young and old, the chance to experience competitive racing in a championship style format event. The Race Series is especially appealing to our Junior Track Day Level 5 graduates, who can race in both the Junior Series and the Adult Series depending on their ages!
Race Series Format:
–5 minute practice/qualifying session which allows drivers to familiarise themselves with the track and their kart whilst also deciding their position on the grid for Heat 1.
-2 Heats of exciting racing followed by a final Super Heat with added points up for grabs!
-Each Heat will be comprised of an 18-lap race with a grid start at the beginning.
-Grid positions for Heat 1 will be based upon the drivers qualifying order. In Heat 2 drivers will line up on the grid in the positions they finished in Heat 1. The points will then be added up from Heat 1 & 2 and this will set the starting positions for the Super Heat, with the highest point scorer starting on pole.
-The points awarded to drivers in the Heats are:
1st: 24, 2nd: 22, 3rd: 20, 4th: 18, 5th: 17, 6th: 16, 7th: 15, 8th: 14, 9th: 13, etc…
-The points awarded to the drivers in the Super Heat are:
1st: 30, 2nd: 28, 3rd: 26, 4th: 24, 5th: 23, 6th: 22, 7th: 23, 8th: 24, 9th: 23, etc…
The driver with the highest total points at the end of the Round will be the Heat winner, with trophies awarded for 2nd & 3rd place as well. Each drivers points total from each Round will be added on to the Series Table and an eventual Series Champion will be crowned following the conclusion of all Heats in the Series. Each driver will drop their worst scoring Round throughout the Series to ensure any drivers who miss a Round are not at a disadvantage in the final standings.
