Watkins Glen, USA
This October, we return to the northeastern United States, where Watkins Glen International Circuit takes the spotlight as our Hotlapping Track of the Month!
Nestled in Upstate New York’s Finger Lakes region, Watkins Glen International is a historic motorsport venue, known as the birthplace of post-war road racing in North America. The Glen, with its rich heritage, hosts major events like the NASCAR Cup and Xfinity Series, the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, and a prestigious vintage race meet.
Originally a six-mile road course, racing at Watkins Glen began in 1948 with the Watkins Glen Grand Prix. The permanent track, established in 1957, hosted its first NASCAR race that year. In 1961, it became the home of the United States Grand Prix, attracting legendary Formula 1 drivers until the last F1 race in 1980.
Watkins Glen has evolved over the years, with multiple track configurations available today. Despite challenges in the early 1980s, the track was revitalised under new ownership in 1986, solidifying its status as a premier motorsport destination in America.
As it does every year, Watkins Glen is set to deliver an exciting and intense challenge for the hot lap leader board this month, pushing you to the limits!
