It’s Race Day – Both in Mexico and on the Island today!
Lando Norris got pole at Mexico Grand Prix and we’re all backing him from the Isle of Wight!
Meanwhile, we had our own Adult Race Series here at Wight Karting — and what a battle it was!
Sunday the 26th of October marked the start of the new Adult Race Series here at Wight Karting, with 9 drivers braving the early morning chill to take to the track. Whilst the majority of the track had dried out, there were still a few corners which required full concentration from our racers – with the slightest mistake potentially ending podium hopes.
After a short qualifying session, it was Dale Hunt that took hold of pole position for Heat 1. After a close fight in the last few laps Max Downer claimed victory over Dale in Heat 1, and this battled continued in Heat 2 with Lewis Harmer and Cayden Francis also joining the action at the front of the race. Ultimately, Dale claimed a comfortable victory in Heat 2 with Max in 2nd and Cayden Francis in 3rd. This meant that Dale and Max went in to Heat 3 on EQUAL POINTS and with the top spot of the podium up for grabs, it was sure to be a spectacle. Heat 3 started with Max in pole position, as he held the quickest lap times in Heat 1 and 2 with Dale just behind him. Although a close battle between both drivers took place over the first three quarters of the race, it was Max that took the chequered flag at the end of the race – crowning himself Round 1 champion in the process! For a closer look at the results, the link for the Adult Race Series Table is below!
1st: Max Downer
