Our latest team endurance race took place on a rain threatened evening on the 17th of February. We knew the rain was coming, we just didn’t know exactly when!
What we did know however was there were 7 teams ready and raring to go no matter what the weather threw at them!
It was great to see so many new faces taking part in their first ever team endurance event along with a few regular faces.
It was also great to have a couple of teams from the Isle of Wight Car Club taking part with the top 4 drivers from their Adult and Junior Classes taking part.
The team ‘PC Consultants’ went in as early favourites from the start. With a team made up of Junior Track Day graduates!
As per usual in our team endurance events, each team had to make a minimum of 5 driver changes in the final. It was up to each team when they made these changes and how long a stint each driver took part in. In the final it was indeed Pc consultants who took a commanding lead more or less leading throughout. However the battle for the remaining podium positions was very competitive. With three or four teams in with a chance if they put together a good race strategy!
The promised rain eventually came with about 30 minutes left to go, giving the drivers on track a new challenge. Testing their Kart control in changing conditions! This did lead to few spins.
The Results
1st. Team Pc Consultants (Driver Louis Thornton, Emerson Riddett and Jackson Judd), looked strong throughout, handling the changing conditions perfectly. Taking First place after completing 139 laps in total.
2nd. Team Hot Wheels (Drivers Max Downer, Lewis Harmer and Ethan Wright) Came second ending up 4Laps down on Pc Consultants with 135 laps completed
3rd. The best team name, Team Britney Steers (Drivers Danny Grist, Tom Merryfield and Alfie Williams) Took the final podium slot, completing 134 laps. Just a lap down on Hot Wheels!
Our next Open team endurance will be on the 23rd of March with a 5:30pm arrival time.
