WKRKC Round 5 Write Up
The penultimate round of the WKRKC took place on Friday the 9th of August. We had fantastic weather, and our 12 drivers were raring to get underway, especially considering the Championship table was very close coming in to the final 2 rounds.
On the day we had a mixture of returning drivers, who were competing for the top places in the Championship, and some newer faces who were getting their first taste of competitive racing at Wight Karting. With only 1 point separating Simon Johnstone and Louis Thornton in the Championship it certainly was a crucial round for both drivers.
Results:
1st: Louis Thornton claimed a decisive victory in Round 5 to take the lead of the WKRKC. Louis finished Round 5 with 2 race wins in a dominant performance in which he claimed 36 Championship points. Louis now holds a 10-point advantage over Simon going into the final round of the series. Can he hold his nerve and see out the Championship?
2nd: James Dziuba took second place in Round 5 on his return to the WKRKC. James provided a consistent drive, with second and third place finishes in the races. James definitely brought his experience from racing in 24-hour karting races and finished with 27 Championship points.
3rd: Simon Johnstone lost ground in the Championship to Louis after claiming 25 points in the Championship. A solid drive from Simon however, who claimed a second and fourth place finish. With 10 points now separating Simon and Louis, is there any chance Simon can reclaim his place top the Championship on the final day?

The final round of the WKRKC will take place on Sunday the 15th of September at 10AM and we certainly expect there to be some fireworks. We hope to see as many of you guys there as possible to see the 2024 WKRKC Summer Series off in style.
