The Winter series of our popular rental kart championship started last Friday with a new format to expand the series. We are now running two weight classes, Lightweight for drivers below 65kg and Middleweight for drivers 65kg and above.
The series still sees the enjoyable format with drivers taking part in 3 heats over the night taking points from the best two heats to give them their total score.
The action on track was as always fast paced and well contested. The wet and windy conditions in addition to running on the reverse track layout added yet more layers for everyone to contend with, only the drivers with the finest kart control would triumph!
The Results:
First Place
Lightweight: Harvey Yates used all his experience of wet weather racing to take overall victory in the Lightweight class. Finishing up on 34 points. Taking one race win a second place with fastest lap bonus and a third place finish in his heats.
Middleweight: Jack Goring made a near perfect start to the defense of his title with a fantastic set of race results combining to a total of 35 points. Taking a third, second and first in his meaningful heats whilst also setting fastest laps in both meaningful heats to claim the bonus points.
Second place
Lightweight: Raff Bell took the second place prize in the Lightweights with a good show of improvement in wet weather racing (Not his favorite conditions!)
Middleweight Runner up: Max Downer claimed second in the middleweight class. Taking a race win and a third place finish over the heats. He kept cool in the final heat with other drivers pressuring him throughout!
Both drivers in second scored 30 points.
Third Place
Lightweight: Jackson Judd claimed third place but ended up level on points with Raff on 30, he managed two second place finishes. Missing out on second because of Raffs race win. Great effort for his first time racing in the championship.
Middleweight: James Dziuba took third in the middleweight class again securing a race win and a fourth place finish. He didn’t quite get the result he wanted in the final heat but still managed some quality racing throughout the evening.
Round 2 of the Winter series will be on the 12th of November. The remaining winter series races will all be held on Sunday mornings. Please book early to avoid missing out.
