WKRKC Winter Series: Round 2
Sunday the 10th of November played host to Round 2 of the WKRKC Winter Series. With 8 drivers lining up on the grid, we had an exciting morning of racing ahead of us, especially as the rain held off for the races. Keep reading to find out the results of Round 2!
Format:
-The drivers now take part in a single 5-minute qualifying session where all drivers have equal opportunity to set their fastest time within that 5-minute period.
-The order of the qualifying is then used to determine the grid for the first race. So, the quickest driver will be on pole, 2nd quickest in 2nd place and so on.
-For the second race, the grid will be reversed. So, the slowest driver in qualifying will be on pole for the second race.
-Finally for the last race, the grid will be decided by adding up the total points for each driver from the previous two races. The grid will then be set with the driver who has accumulated the highest total points on pole.
-This Series every point matters, as we are no longer dropping any rounds or races, so every bonus point for the fastest lap or the 5 bonus points for completing all 6 Rounds really matter this year.
Results:
1st: Harvey Yates – Harvey put on a dominating display in Round 2 with 2 race wins couples with a second place finish in the first race. He showed an impressive example of defensive driving in the final race to take victory in Round 2. Harvey ended the day with 51 points, the highest of the series so far!
2nd: Melissa Etherington – Following on from her victory in Round 1, Melissa took second place in this round. She was consistently challenging at the front of the grid, and maybe on another day she would have taken victory! With a total of 44 points, it was enough to keep Mel top of the WKRKC standings after Round 2.
3rd: Emerson Ridette – Emerson was the epitome of consistent driving in Round 2 with back-to-back-to-back 3rd place finishes placing him 3rd on the podium. Very good driving from Emerson who finished with a total of 36 points, well done!
