Round 4 saw 14 drivers in total take part in 3 exciting race heats over the event. These 14 drivers were split into 2 weight categories: lightweight and middleweight. This time out we were running on the standard track layout.
With beautiful weather all morning we were treated to spectacular on-track action with numerous high-speed overtakes in both categories.
RESULTS:
Lightweight
The Lightweight class sees drivers under 65kg competing.
1st: Melissa Etherington stormed to 2 consecutive race wins which all but secured the round win for her. A second-place finish in the final race rounded off a fantastic morning for Mel with a total of 37 points to take her first ever WKRKC round win.
2nd: Louis Thornton finished a close second in the first 2 races of the day before falling to a 6th place finish in the third and final race. However, he still did enough to claim second place with 31 points in round 4 of the WKRKC.
3rd: David Ely had it all to do going into the final race of the round and he certainly delivered. With a race victory David ended on 26 points and was our third-place driver for round 4. Well-done David!
Middleweight
The Middleweight is for driver 65kg and over.
1st: Jack Goring once again took the title of round 4 to make it a clean sweep currently for this years WKRKC. Another impervious display from the young man totalling 38 points. Can anyone stop his dominance?
2nd: Simon Johnstone returned to the WKRKC with a bang. He delivered a big performance out on track with a third, second and finally first place finishes over the 3 races with a return of 34 points.
3rd: Max Downer snuck into the top 3 of the middleweights with 25 points, beating Dale Hunt by a single point. A very close finish to the final race left spectators on the edge of their seats.
Overall championship tables:
Harvey Yates keeps his place atop the lightweight table while Jack Goring extend his lead in the middleweight class.
Round 5 will be on the 11th of February on the reverse track layout. Lightweight 10:35 arrival Middleweight 10:50 arrival. (TBC) REMINDER: Driver club members cost £50 per event, standard member £55.
