RESULTS
Combined
As we had a combined Lightweight and Middleweight race today the results for the podium on the day are as follows:
These were then split post race to work out the full results on the split classes.
Lightweight
The Lightweight class sees drivers under 65kg competing.
1st: Emerson Riddett took overall win on 34 points in the lightweight class with a class win and a second place finish also taking the fastest lap bonus point from his first heat.
2nd: Louis Thornton battled back from a penalty in his first heat to claim second on 31 points. With a class win and a third place finish in his two other heats, keeping the pressure on Harvey Yates on the overall leader board.
3rd: Thomas Edgson showed a calm resolve throughout ending on 28 points. Taking a class win and a fourth place finish in his two meaningful heats to finish up the top three in the lightweight class.
Middleweight
The Middleweight class sees drivers 65kg and over race.
1st: Jack Goring continued his winning streak in class to 5 out of 5, also claiming maximum points from his heats. Ending up on 37 points Jack is laying down a formidable defense of his summer championship win! One more class win and he will get 100% win percentage this season. Something even Verstappen can’t achieve!
2nd: Lewis Hallet claimed second place on 33 points. Taking one class heat win and a second place finish. Very well raced from Lewis who has had a break from the championship in recent months!
3rd: Max Downer claimed third in class on 28 points with a second and third place finishes in class. A close battle for second overall in the championship table is now set up for the final round in March!
The Championship Table
Lightweight: Going into the final round anyone from the top 3 can still win the overall championship. Each driver still has a drop round to take into account, plus any driver who has taken part in every round will receive a 5 point bonus!
Middleweight: After another strong showing Jack Goring is now unbeatable in the middleweight class so claims back to back WKRKC championships!
However the remaining podium places are still up for grabs. With Dale Hunt and Max Downer only separated by 10 points and Lewis Harmer close behind in fourth. It could all change in the final round!
The Final round of the winter series will be on the 10th of March. This promises to be a high action event with the awards set to be handed out after the racing!
